Somber soliloquies slip from your lips Between the idle chitchat you think so safe. I know you how you hide away the tender Spit shit eyes lit wide with nothing to hide A fly lands on your lipstick, sticks To the plump curve Suck and swallow the buzz down and cough up Tricks sly words that lick and tease Weaken my knees Let her at me, let her rip me apart For anger of seeing, for shame for sadness
I’ll be whatever you need me to be But I won’t be like the others If you’d do me The same courtesy.
The biggest influences on my art have been Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha, and Egon Schiele. The elegance and intricacies in Mucha’s work is something I admire and often try to emulate, whereas Lautrec and Schiele have this phenomenal ability to capture a figure which such conviction. Jenny Saville too, they breathe life into a portrait. It’s like, showing us the deepest secrets of a person, their greatest flaws and truest nature, and it’s the most beautiful thing. Maybe that didn’t make sense, I’m rambling now.
Hey guys! I’ve posted this before, but don’t forget to vote for my work for a chance to be on a big ol’ billboard in NYC plus a cash prize. All you have to do is hit the collect me button on that page! Thanks, I truly appreciate any support!
Hey guys! Thanks for all the great animal suggestions for my next project! I got some really interesting ones. I’m going to have to go and try drawing some of these outside of this next project. Like, raccoon or SLOTH? That would be awesome. I will probably do a page of sloths just for fun. brilliant suggestions.
But I think the final verdict is birds. I got a lot of suggestions for things like emus or ostriches or just birds in general. They seem like a wide range that can be interesting. Or who knows, I might just change my mind and do sloths. Or pugs. I might do that. After all that, I’m still indecisive. So silly.
Hi Emily. My name is Kate, and I randomly came across your blog through eatsleepdraw. I'm an illustrator as well, and have been following your blog for a few weeks. It isn't often that I'm continually inspired by a fellow artist's blog posts. I just wanted to let you know that I love your stuff and am enjoying your progress showing up on my dashboard. I've been working mainly with ink and in photoshop, but your last few posts have made me want to pull out the watercolors. :) Cheers!
Hey Kate! Thank you so much! It means a lot when someone genuinely enjoys my work. You have quite nice illustrations as well. You should certainly try out a bit of watercolors, I’d like to see how your style translates, and it’s such a fun medium. Thanks again!
